Beautiful house, a truly 5 star property. The garden a delight and the children loved the vegetable allotment and Christened it Mr McGregor's Garden, a worthy name! Thanks to Nick and team for all your help and kindness, Joanne, Christine and family.
Gooseham Mill House offers everything we wish for in our holiday home! With its stunning location and tranquillity, the cozy and comfortable feel to it, we could not have asked for more. We thoroughly enjoyed the walks to the beach and the Old Smithy and managed to explore the area. Big thanks to Nick for making our stay so wonderful and relaxed! Kaddouri family.

We love your house - it's a credit to you! So comfortable and you have furnished it beautifully. The garden has so much to see and explre - its different "rooms" offer peace and tranquillity, "play areas" for the children and so much wildlife. All in all a perfect holiday location. Burgess family.
Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful house! We've had such a lovely week here. Would highly recommend "Welcombe Mouth" beach - so beautiful and the waterfall is a must see! Don't forget to call in at the Old Smithy pub for a drink or two; either after a long hot walk from the beach or by car. Hope this house and its fab garden continue to give as much pleasure as it has given us for a long time to come. Many thanks and best wishes Geoff and June Brough.
What an idyllic setting for our holiday. The website cannot do it justice. The house truly was a home away from home with every comfort catered for. The house is so tastefjully decorated and the beds divine. The house may be old but every modern convenience is on hand. Our best house yet! A lovely Christmas in a very festive room and loved the log burner. Good walks and nice days at Sandymouth Bay. Even in winter an exciting garden to explore and much appreicated by the gardeners in our midst - we wish we were here when the fruit was fruiting. Bay family.

What an amazing house in an amazing location. Everything about this house is perfect - we were so impressed by the design style inside and out - so beautiful, comfy and homely. And so spotlessly clean throughout. Everything is here that you need to feel right at home. We enjoyed some very long and challenging walks in the area and we love the South West Coast Path and have explored lots of it this week. Top marks to the gardener for creating such a beautiful view from any one of the windows in the house. The peace and tranquillity of the house has been so therapeutic. Nick was so helpful in providing information on the house and area - such a friendly and professional man. This is truly one of the best houses we have stayed in - thank you. Mary and Benn.
We have spent a fantastic week in this corner of paradise, even the weather was perfect - our kids and dogs enjoyed the freedom of the garden and all the games to go with it - the house really has everything and it is so stunningly beautiful. It's quite possible that we will be back in the near future - our week was far too short Rosie, Jurgen and family from Germany.

Gooseham Mill House is a magical property dating back to the 17th century. A secluded holiday cottage set in the middle of the Devon and Cornwall Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve this is a perfect self-catering retreat for those seeking a truly peaceful, tranquil and traffic-free setting in which to holiday. This historic house has literary connections from the mid 20th century when it was owned by Lady Patricia Russell, wife of Sir Bertrand Russell, and many writers and artists from the Bloomsbury Set visited the property.
Gooseham Mill House is located on the Cornwall/Devon border in a beautiful wooded valley just a mile from the sea. It stands in the middle of the Marsland Nature Reserve, which is well known for its flora and fauna, particularly its 34 species of butterfly. The gentle stream meandering through the garden is the county boundary; start in Cornwall and wander over the footbridge to Devon. Stroll along winding footpaths for a mile and you will find the secluded beaches of Marsland Mouth and Welcombe on the Atlantic Heritage Coast.
The house has two large double rooms (one ensuite), one twin room and a single room providing spacious bedrooms for up to seven. The cosy sitting room with its original Inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove lends itself to sitting quietly and relaxing. The kitchen is equipped with a Rayburn; the dining area has an antique cherrywood dining table with seating for seven and there is a separate sitting room with piano and sofa. All beautifully furnished with antique furniture the owners have taken great care to ensure this fabulous house is decorated and equipped to the highest standards. With oak beams throughout and flagstone floors many of the original features of the house remain whilst modern appliances ensure 21st century convenience and comfort.
In addition there is a pretty, tiny barley mill equipped with DVD player, board games and bean bags. This space is ideal for slightly older children and teenagers to enjoy themselves without disturbing the peace of the house.
A truly fabulous secluded holiday cottage in a unique setting, Gooseham Mill House and gardens are full of heritage and charm. A holiday here will be a magical and relaxing luxury experience.
